There’s always room for improvement. There’s always something new to learn.
And that’s what this post is about.
In this post I share with you the best Pinterest marketing strategy that will boost your website traffic; just make sure you read till the end.

So let’s begin….

The Ultimate Guide To Pinterest Marketing-Best Tips And Strategies For 2020

USE VIDEO PINS REGULARLY

Video pins is one of the features of Pinterest that you should be tapping into you may ask “why, Isn’t Pinterest suppose to be a visual search engine? ” oh yes Pinterest is a visual search engine but videos  tends to capture people’s attention and they are pretty popular from Instagram to YouTube.
Videos are relatively new to pinterest and they are only getting bigger!

So if you still haven’t tried out creating video pins, 2020 is the perfect time to do it.
You can film a video or create one with video editing apps like Inshot or even Canva.

But you need to be careful with your video pins and make sure you don’t give everything away in your video. Remember the goal is to send peoples to your website. So draw people’s attention with your videos and make them want to click and find out more.

Create new Pins Often

This is one of the most important tip for 2020.
Pinterest loves new pins and favourites them.
Spending time pinning and scheduling a pin to your boards and all your group boards and adding it to Tailwind’s SmartLoop is actually a waste of time.
What you should do instead is regularly create fresh pins for your posts and schedule them to your best performing boards and then let it be.
Bonus tip-for your best performing posts create fresh pins weekly to keep the traffic coming!

PIN REGULARLY AND CONSISTENTLY

OK we all know that content is king right but content without consistency is a waste of time.
Just like other platforms, Pinterest wants you consistently using the platform! As a Pinterest marketer, avoid inconsistency and plopping a bunch of pins on the platform once a week or so (I was guilty). Get into a regular habit of pinning when your audience is using the platform. Using a Pinterest scheduler like Tailwind can help you choose the ‘smart’ times to pin as well as creating a queue so that you don’t have to manually pin, especially if you have difficulty staying consistent.
Remember, Pinterest is really favoring new and fresh content.

OPTIMIZE BOARDS/PINS FOR SEARCH

The two major things you need to optimize you board/pins are Hastags and Keywords

Hashtags

Hastags are also pretty new on Pinterest and a very big part of Pinterest marketing in 2020 that cannot be neglected.
They are another tool for Pinterest to determinate what your pin is about so the algorithm can understand your pin better.
Hashtags are also very helpful for Pinterest users who can search for hashtags.
How to use hashtags on Pinterest:
use 2-5 relevant hashtags
don’t use too broad hashtags, instead, find some specific ones
don’t use too many hashtags and be spammy and end up hurting your brand identity.

Keywords

We all know by now that keywords are very important and that you need to use them on your profile and your pins but the way you use them is incredibly important.
Please no keyword stuffing!!!
Pinterest doesn’t like that.
For your pin description, pick a few keywords that best describe your pin and write 1-3 sentences around them.
Remember, you’re writing your pin description for users, not Pinterest.
Think of writing your pin description as if you are texting a friend and telling them what your post is about.

 Picture of new pin

Here is an example of one of my pin descriptions.
I like to start my description with a question as that’s a great way to grab people’s attention AND include a keyword right at the beginning.
So if you’re struggling with writing your pin descriptions and don’t know how to start, try asking a question.

Pinterest Visual Search

Pinterest visual search is also a must for 2020 because, pinterest is very smart and uses so many different things to figure out what a pin is about one of which is the photo. There’s keywords, visual search, hashtags and so much more! But the photo use is important.
That’s why the actual photo you use is VERY important.
If you use a photo of a dog but add keywords and hashtags related to pancakes recipe, Pinterest is smart and will know that a baby is on that photo.
And then be confused as to where to place your pin, what your pin is actually about.
That’s why it’s so important that every part of your pin matches what your post is about.
If you want to promote a pancake recipe choose a photo of pancakes and add relevant keywords and hashtags.
Yes, that might sound obvious and you are probably already doing it but for some topics, it’s not as simple.
Especially if your niche is a lifestyle one.
You might be tempted to use this really cool picture you found but if it’s not related to what your post is about don’t use it.
No matter how pretty it is.

Clean Up Your Pinterest Boards

Like spring cleaning go through your Pinterest boards and see which ones perform great and which ones don’t bring any value.
You can check how your boards are performing by going to your Tailwind dashboard > Insights > Board Insights and there you can see analytics for all of your boards. How many repins you got, how many new followers, engagement score etc.
You can also click on each board to see all the pins you’ve added to that board and see how many repins each pin got.
Based on that data archive all your low performing boards, both personal and group ones.
Also, if there are any boards you haven’t pinned to in a long time or that don’t fit your niche anymore, archive those as well.
Now that you’ve gotten rid of those boards go and create some new boards.

Experiment and grow🌱

And lastly, Experiment, try out new things!
Like I said at the beginning, Pinterest is constantly adding new features and making changes to its algorithm.
You need to try new things and make changes to your Pinterest strategy, otherwise, you won’t be able to keep up and your traffic will go down.
